SEPTEMBER 20 - OCTOBER 15, 2010

Autumn Nature Walk:
A guided nature tour of our Sanctuary trails will allow students to investigate the various habitats located here.  Dress according to the weather.  (This Program is limited to 25 students.)

OCTOBER 19 - NOVEMBER 24, 2010

Ecosystems
The presentation stresses the importance of a balanced ecosystem. The workshop allows each participant to create their own "mini" ecosystem by making a woodland terrarium.  Building a "block" bird feeder will be made during the workshop.  A weather related project will also be created.  All students MUST BRING
a clean glass jar that is big enough to fit their hand in. Teachers, please bring boxes to transport projects safely.

Wildlife and Winter Weather
A New England winter can affect plants, animals, birds. and humans in many ways.   Building a "block" bird feeder will be made during the workshop.

JANUARY 4 - 21, 2011

Stars & Constellations
Explore the night sky with a variety of photographs that include galaxies, nebulas, supernovas, star clusters, and constellations.  A star gazing guide, sundial, and a constellation projector will be made during the workshop.   All students MUST BRING an empty, tall Pringles can in order to complete the project.

JANUARY 25, to FEBRUARY 26,2011

Bluebirds House Building:   

jan6.jpg (119212 bytes)   This program is dedicated to the Eastern Bluebird. The main activity is the construction of a Bluebird nesting box. Participants must be at least 8 years of age in order to attend. This program is also offered on Saturdays in February and March for groups limited to 25 participants.

Learn about different species of animals by identifying their tracks or encountering the signs they leave behind. Participants will make a plaster cast of an animal track. Teachers, please bring boxes to transport the projects back to school.

APRIL 2011

Trees:

Dicover the role that trees and forests play in our homes, communities, and lives.  Each student will plant a seedling and we will take a short walk through our trails observing some trees. Please have students bring a clean, empty 1/2 gallon orange juice or milk container./

Wildlife Garden

Come find out what plants will attract a variety of creatures to your area. We will plant seeds of both perennials and annuals during the workshop. All materials are provided. Please bring boxes to transport projects safely.

NATURALLIST PROGRAMS

Outdoor, hands-on classes for adults and children are offered Tuesday through Saturday.  Group size is limited.  Please call for details and reservations.
