AN ADVANCE RESERVATION IS REQUIRED.

MAXIMUM NUMBER IN ANY ONE GROUP IS
40, PLUS AT LEAST 1 ADULT FOR EVERY 8 CHILDREN.

SEPTEMBER - OCTOBER 2008

Fall Nature Walk:
A guided nature tour of our Sanctuary trails will allow students to investigate the various habitats located here.  Everyone will make a nature journal.  Dress according to the weather.  The trails will be our main focus.  This Program is limited to 25 participants.

 

OCTOBER 21 - NOVEMBER 26, 2008

Ecosystems

The focal point of our presentation stresses the importance of a balanced ecosystem. The workshop allows each participant to create their own "mini" ecosystem by making a terrarium. All students MUST BRING a clean glass jar that is big enough to fit their hand in. Teachers, please bring boxes to transport projects safely.

Wildlife and Winter Weather
A New England winter can affect plants, animals, birds. and us in many ways.  Be cool and join our class.  Building a "block" bird feeder will be made during the workshop.

JANUARY 2 - 23, 2009

Stars
Explore the night sky with a variety of photographs that include galaxies, nebulas, supernovas, star clusters, and constellations.  A star gazing wheel, as well as a constellation projector will be made during the workshop.   All students MUST BRING an empty, tall Pringles can in order to complete the project.

JANUARY 26, to FEBRUARY 28,2009

Bluebirds House Building:   

jan6.jpg (119212 bytes)   This months program is dedicated to the Eastern Bluebird. The main activity is the construction of a Bluebird nesting box. Participants must be at least 8 years of age in order to attend. This program is also offered on Saturdays for groups limited to 25.

Animal Tracks & Signs

Learn about different species of animals by identifying their tracks or encountering the signs they leave behind. Participants will make a plaster cast of an animal track. Teachers, please bring boxes to transport the projects back to school.

APRIL 2008

TREES:

Recognize the invaluable role that trees and forests play in our homes, communities, and lives.  Each student will plant a balsam fir seedling.  Each participant will need to bring a clean, empty 1/2 gallon orange juice or milk container.

 MAY 2008

Wildlife Garden

Come find out what plants will attract a variety of creatures to your area. We will plant seeds of both perennials and annuals during the workshop. All materials are provided. Please bring boxes to transport projects back to school.

JUNE 2008

NATURALLIST PROGRAMS

Outdoor, hands-on classes for adults and children are offered Tuesday through Saturday.  Group size is limited.  Please call for details and reservations.
