Common Name:   Red Pine
Height/Width: 50 to 80’ in height with variable width
Form:  Pyramidal to oval
Range: Zone 2 to 5
Habitat: Prefers dry, acidic, sandy soils in full sun.
Wildlife Value: Pines are considered one of the most important trees for birds.  Birds consume their seeds. Needles are eaten by grouse.  Robins and mourning doves fancy this tree for nesting. 
Landscape Value:  Excellent tree for "impossible to grow" areas.
Notes:    Red Pines are the tree of choice for replanting around power lines.  You can often find them planted in acres of neat rows adjacent to the large above ground power lines.
